The Actor

The story of Terrence Stephen McQueen is a rather complex story. His life was often full of bittersweet moments beginning with his childhood until the end. Yet he found peace in Christianity before his untimely death. Regardless of how bittersweet his life may have been we choose to remember the amazing characters he portrayed in his movies and the brilliance of his acting.

The Man
Steve McQueen the man - with all the various personas that he embodied was still quite an interesting and exciting seminal figure as an actor. One that was and still is very often imitated but never duplicated.

Steve McQueen was quite the athlete.
50 years ago on June 19th 1968, the movie The Thomas Crown Affair starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway was released and featured a 2 minute, and now infamous, split screen polo scene shot at Myopia Polo Club. The players and extras were all polo playing members, family and fans who were regulars at Myopia; names you may know like Poor, Pennell, Crossman and Little. McQueen actually received instruction and learned to play polo for the film, taught by Gary Wooten and Neil Ayer as well as by first assistant director Jack N. Reddish, who was a ranked player at the time according to the official movie history on IMDB.com.
Steve McQueen was also a dedicated motorcycle enthusiast and racer. He was known to film all his own stunts in movies like The Great Escape, Bullitt (he shares credit with stunt man Bill Hickman and Bud Ekins - some of Hollywood’s best stunt drivers) and our personal favorite The Thomas Crown Affair. You cannot take your eyes off the chemistry that Steve McQueen radiates in The Thomas Crown Affair. It is a must see movie! Although, Mr. McQueen is no longer with us, his remarkable career lives on through the power of cinematic magic.
